Well, hello there! I'm Lisa. Minnesota born and raised, yet have lived in Wisconsin since 1989. I love both my states and can't choose one over the other.
Wife of Jeff for 20 adventurous years. Got married in Hana, Maui, Hawaii wearing a prom dress purchased after prom off the sale rack for $30.
Mom to two beautiful souls...a pre-teen and a teen - eek!
Believer in God and Jesus as our Savior.
Teacher of first graders for most of my 20+ year career.
Drinker of (homemade, half-strength) coffee with almond milk creamer.
Giver-upper of gluten and dairy (I feel SO much more energy since giving them up).
Passionate about helping students build growth-mindset beyond surface-level with actionable feedback and strategies.
Deep believer that absolutely everyone is the same amount of special. That every individual is unique. That their story, culture, passions, and contributions are significant. That EVERYONE deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Committed to fostering academic and interpersonal problem solving in all my students, meeting them at their cutting edge of learning and helping them grow from there.
Started teaching back in the 1900's! (1994) Since then I've taught 6th, 4th, 3rd, and 1st grades (mostly 1st grade)...have also been a Reading Specialist, University instructor (undergrads) and independent Literacy Consultant (for seven districts). Where's my heart? First grade...definitely!
I love helping make busy teacher's lives easier...any time my own busy life (HA!) relaxes a bit and I can share!

DeleteLisa, I'm a North Dakota girl born and raised. I still live in North Dakota, will celebrate 20 years of marriage to my husband this Jan. 2nd (we did NOT get married in Hawaii) and I've taught all but my first year in first grade! EVERYTHING you wrote in your blog about God in Schools is exactly how I feel and I am so thankful that you somehow find the time to create these wonderful resources! Do you also like to sing? We could be soul sisters!
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal!!! Your comment makes me smile! Love how the internet can make you feel connected to people you'd never meet otherwise!! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment! As far as singing goes, despite not being able to carry a tune, I do love to sing...and according to my first graders I'm awesome....but ONLY according to first graders!! Love them!! Many blessings to you! Lisa
